Charles to open Commonwealth Games
Radical Royalist takes a swipe at India's preparations for the Commonwealth Games while pointing out Prince Charles is to open games in his mother's place. Apparently, it's a bad thing that the President of India, (arrogantly described as just "another politician") is involved. Aside from the unnecessary swipe, the ceremony hardly seems to be the most important factor in the event.
Clarence House's insistence that Charles open the Games is nothing more than a testament to the irrelevance of the Royal family to the modern Commonwealth of Nations: without it, there would have been no visible Royal presence.
