Governor-General Bill up for second reading

Today's Order Paper records the Governor-General Bill is up first, for its second reading debate. As reported last month, the Select Committee reported the Bill back to the House, keeping all the changes the Law Commission suggested (the main one being that the Governor-General pay tax) but declining to add provisions for the Governor-General's term, and their appointment and dismissal.

The Bill will go through its second reading debate, and will then go to the Committee of the Whole House stage, where each clause of the Bill will be debated. At this stage amendments could be made.

UPDATE: The Bill easily passed its first reading. Keith Locke has announced he will be putting up an amendment to appoint the Governor-General. More on that later!
