Representing New Zealand to the world: what we're missing out on
One of the benefits of having a Kiwi as our head of State is that, for the first time in our nation's history, we will have a head of State able to represent New Zealand. This is underlined by the news that the President of Ireland is off to visit Latin America to strengthen Ireland's trade links to that continent.
Several current and former officials of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs &Trade, and entrepreneurs, have expressed to myself and others that our lack of a representative hurts New Zealand's interests. Especially since our Governor-General is treated when making a rare trip overseas. We would be better off with someone given full head of State honours in our expanding trade relationships.
