Republic debate enters new phase with book launch

"The Republican Movement's campaign for a republic enters a new phase today," said Lewis Holden, chair of the Republican Movement.

"The Hon. Peter Dunne will host an official book launch for The New Zealand Republic Handbook at Parliament this evening" continued Mr Holden.

Speaking on TV3's Sunrise program this morning Labour List MP Phil Twyford emphasised the importance of the book to the republic discussion. "We need to start discussing these issues - instead of just walking into this debate."

MPs from several parties will speak on the topic of New Zealand becoming a republic, representing the cross-party support for the issue.
