I suspect we (New Zealanders) wouldn't like to see ourselves outdone by our neighbours across the ditch. So if they held a referedum, or became a republic, I can imagine New Zealand doing the same thing.
Although, it is easier (technically speaking) for New Zealand to become a repubic than it is for Australia.
