If the topic isn't even discussed, how can New Zealand expect to lead the charge and become a republic in the foreseeable future?
Interestingly, Jim Bolger said he discussed the monarchy with the Queen. I suspect Helen Clark is playing it safe - if she did what Kevin Rudd did, i.e. announce a new republic referendum, it might not have looked so good.
