Far North Council dumps the Queen

Conservator Occidentalis reports Far North District Council Mayor Wayne Brown has removed the council's portrait of the Queen, and replaced it with a cartoon of himself and fellow councillors. His Worship states that this is because "he wants the council chamber to look less like a court, and more like a place where people can talk freely." And yet, Mr Brown supports the monarchy. How strange.

Sorry Anna, this isn't the

Sorry Anna, this isn't the Far North Mayor's forum. We were simply repeating news we heard from elsewhere/

I think that the Queens Portrait should be a reminder to who put the council there in the first place.

Well, the Queen didn't put the council there, the people of the Far North District did.

I think that this is blasphemy.

Blasphemy? How so?

These are the actions you would do at your own home.  Within your position of councillor it is your responsibility to uphold and support the foundation of the council that you work for.

Is the Queen really the foundation of the council? Of course not.

I would recommend immediate disciplinary action for this insult to the Queen of New Zealand.

Disciplinary action? What sort?

It is a no wonder that the Hokianga is in the state it is with leaders like you at the front.

You will not get my vote at the next election!
