An Australian Republic - The Options

This report is probably the most detailed report ever done for a country considering moving to a republic. The Committee was appointed by the Prime Minister, Paul Keating, to report on how Australia might become a republic, assuming that the head of state had similar powers to the Governor-General. The report has some very detailed analysis on Australia, but it also includes comparative analysis of the political systems of Austria, Germany, Ireland, Mauritius, India, and Trinidad and Tobago. Tables in the appendices set out the different appointment methods and powers of heads of various states around the world. Serious researchers should seek out this report.
